Month of firsts.

Have you tried something new? Something out of your ordinary pattern? Something that is out your comfort zone? Isn’t it scary trying out a thing that you are unsure of. Nerve-racking I presume. You don’t know how to act and react because you are a newbie. You can’t really move naturally. Uhh.. Wait. Am I doing this right? I think this is wrong. All of these feelings and thoughts came barging in to my head this month.ย This month is a month of firsts..

My first month being unemployed. Hey, No judging. I’ve been with that job for three years. I deserve a break. I will figure things out eventually. My first time to travel in South Cotabato. My first blog site. My first blog post. My first ever blogging organization. Shout out Davao Bloggers Society!

This photo was taken at Waikato, New Zealand last May 2016. I love how it depicts and reflects mystery. It describes where I am right now, a mystery yet to be discovered.

I am but an ordinary person craving for something new. Something exciting. Something worth my while. We as human beings will never cease to learn. It is programmed within us to adapt and transcend. There is always room for improvement. There is always room for more. We should take every opportunity life throws at us. That is what I’m doing right now. I am utilizing what has been given to me. I’m applying for the job I really like. I’m doing things I am really passionate about. I signed up for an organization that supports and encourages my passion. Who cares if it is your first time? Everybody starts somewhere. Might as well start now. The difference between those people who are stuck and those people who progress is that thing called “leap of faith”. You may not know what is beyond those curtains. You may not know what you will be facing. But this I ask you, how will you know if you won’t even try?

It is ย just like my first time riding a bike. It is scary. It may be tough. You may have to wear training wheels. You will get secluded among those who are veterans. You will think of every possible obstacle that may come against you. You will. But all of these thinking? Who creates it? You. We limit ourselves. We are our own enemies. What you must do? Be brave enough to will yourself away from those negativity and believe in yourself. Believe that you can and you will. You are pedaling. You feel like moving. You feel the wind in your face. You are here and then you are there. You moved.

I urge everyone to take that leap of faith. Take that first step. Apply for that job. Audition for that role. Buy that car. Book that ticket. Date that girl. There will be so many firsts in your life. Start now. You just got to try. I’ve tried, so far it has been paying off.

This has been my month of firsts.

  1. This is so inspiring Duy. The message you try to invoke really captures the reader. Continue to do what you are doing because i know you’ll get far. I am a great fan of your blog not because we are of nearest kin but because you are a great writer who speaks from the heart.

  2. Welcome to the world of blogging and to DBS!

With regards to the fear and the uncertainty of ‘new experiences’, here’s a quote I always remember :

“And here you are living, despite it all.” – Rupi Kaur

Remember all the ‘firsts’ you’ve overcome before and know that despite the fears and uncertainties, here you are living.

    Cheers! ๐Ÿ˜€
